GEORGETOWN, KENTUCKY, (April 21, 2005) — Fifty-five students have been selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Scholarship Program. Among the 55, twenty are children of parents who work for Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK).
To commemorate the production of Toyota’s 10 millionth vehicle in North America, Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America (TMMNA) established the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Scholarship Program. The scholarship program is for sons and daughters of team members of Toyota’s North American manufacturing companies. In addition, the TMMK Scholarship Fund awards five scholarships based on similar standards.
Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, a statement of goals and aspirations, and outside appraisals.
TMMK is Toyota’s largest North American manufacturing facility with an annual production capacity of 500,000 vehicles and engines. Located in Georgetown, Kentucky, the plant employs more than 7,000 team members and produces the Camry, America’s number one selling sedan, as well as the Avalon sedan and Solara coupe and Solara convertible.
