    TMMK General Managers Tom Zawacki and Al Ackerman found themselves working on an assembly line recently, but they weren't building Toyota vehicles. The two TMMK executives worked at Lexmark in Lexington to pay off a bet on which company would have the largest pledge drive during this past year's United Way of the Bluegrass campaign.

    Toyota Avalon Named "Best Pick" In IIHS Crash Test

    The all-new U.S.-built 2000 Toyota Avalon was designated a "Best Pick" today by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for its performance in a frontal impact offset crash test at 40 miles per hour in the midsized moderately-priced car category. The Avalon got "good" ratings across the board for structural performance, dummy injury measures, and restraints/dummy kinematics.

The nationwide event is a day when families and groups of all ages volunteer to "give something back" to America's millions of acres of public lands. Nationally sponsored by Toyota, National Public Lands Day is the largest nationwide volunteer workday for America's irreplaceable resource…its public lands — our parks, forests, refuges, lakeshores, grasslands and historic sites.

    TMMK Teams Up With Community for Emergency Response Exercise

    Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc., will be the site of an emergency response exercise on Wednesday, October 18, 2000, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The drill will involve TMMK's Emergency Management Group, Scott County and Georgetown Emergency Agencies and Georgetown Community Hospital.

    Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) presented a check for $968,576.00 to Scott County Schools, representing TMMK's thirteenth annual in-lieu-of-tax payment to the school system.
