    Toyota Motor Sales Results Up 12.7 Percent in December; 6.2 Percent for 2014

    Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported December 2014 sales of 215,057, an increase of 12.7 percent from December 2013 on a volume basis. With one additional selling day in December of 2014, sales were up 8.4 percent on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis.

    Toyota Opens the Door and Invites the Industry to the Hydrogen Future

    Toyota is opening the door to the hydrogen future, making available thousands of hydrogen fuel cell patents royalty free. Announced today at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, this Toyota initiative will spur development and introduction of innovative fuel cell technologies around the world.

    Delivering the Goods: Toyota North America Built Nearly Two Million Vehicles in 2014

    After roughly three decades of delivering products with the highest safety, quality, design and value, Toyota North America marks a historic record with 1,985,501 vehicles produced in 2014, a 7 percent increase. In addition, Toyota built a record 1,909,848 engines, an 11 percent increase from 2013. Stronger demand was driven in part by the redesigned Camry, Corolla, Highlander and RAV4 models.

    Toyota Posts 15.6 Percent Sales Increase in January

    Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported January 2015 sales of 169,194, an increase of 15.6 percent from January 2014 on a volume basis. With one additional selling day in January 2015, sales were up 11.2 percent on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis.

    Toyota reported February 2015 sales of 180,467, an increase of 13.3 percent from February 2014 on a volume basis. With the same amount of selling days in February 2015 and 2014, sales were up 13.3 percent on a daily selling rate basis.

    Keep Calm and Stay Green

    Focus on the Future: Kentucky, Toyota Expand Early Childhood Academies

    Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear, Toyota and United Way announced the expansion of innovative early childhood academies to 36 more schools across the state. The initiative is funded by Kentucky’s Race to the Top Early Learning Challenge federal grant and Toyota’s manufacturing operations in Kentucky. The state is in year two of a four-year $1.4 million expansion while Toyota is in its fourth year of a $1 million investment.

    TMMK Hosts SuperRecycling Day 2015

    Since 1994, Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) has held its SuperRecycling Day to help team members and the community safely dispose of household hazardous waste collecting more than 300 tons during that time. The 2015 SuperRecycling Day will be held on Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in cooperation with the City of Georgetown, Scott County Fiscal Court, and local recycling vendor Green Metals, Inc.

    Toyota's Latest Virtual Crash Dummy Software Can Model Occupant Posture Before Collisions

    Toyota has successfully added a new muscle model capable of simulating human postural states in the latest version of its Total Human Model for Safety (THUMS) virtual human model software. THUMS Version 5 can simulate a variety of states from relaxed to braced, thus enabling more detailed computer analysis of injuries caused by collisions.

    Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc., today reported July 2015 sales of 217,181 units, an increase of 0.6 percent from July 2014 on a volume basis. Camry was best-selling car in July, with posted sales of 38,435 units.

    Toyota Plows Ahead with New Production Engineering Building in Georgetown

    Located on the grounds of Toyota’s largest vehicle manufacturing operation, the 250,000 sq. ft. building will include a state-of-the-art test lab and provide an innovative work space for approximately 700 team members. Toyota’s expansion in Georgetown represents a local investment of $80 million, and marks its third major groundbreaking event in North America since the start of the year.

    Toyota Remains Most Valuable Global Automotive Brand According to Interbrand

    Toyota once again earned the title of the most valuable automotive brand in the world, according to Interbrand's 2015 "Best Global Brands" annual report. The company's ranking jumped to number six, up two spots from the 2014 report. Interbrand estimated Toyota's 2015 brand value at $49 billion, up 16 percent, another record achievement.

    The Toyota Avalon has for 20 years set the benchmark for the premium midsize sedan category, an area that has seen additional competitors appear in the last several years. For 2016, the Avalon continues to set the pace by introducing a new choice for customers: two unique suspensions, one that centers around a dynamic and responsive driving experience (Touring grade), the other a high quality and comfortable ride (non-Touring grades). This change accompanies new frontal styling, an additional model grade (XLE Plus) and added equipment for all grades.

    My Old Kentucky Homecoming: U.S. Lexus Production Begins in the Bluegrass State

    Today at a ceremony fit for a luxury brand king, the first-ever U.S.-produced ES 350 was unveiled before several thousand proud team members in Georgetown. For the past two and a half years, the Kentucky plant – Toyota’s largest in North America – has been gearing up to make the ES 350, Lexus’ best-selling sedan in the U.S. In all, $360 million was invested toward a new dedicated assembly line, adding 750 new jobs. Total capacity for the new line will be 50,000 vehicles.

    Toyota Turns Compost Into Cars

    Toyota recently announced its intent to virtually eliminate CO2 emissions from its factories and vehicles, and it's about to flip the switch on a very tangible example of this effort. Toyota’s Georgetown, Ky., manufacturing plant will begin generating electricity from methane, a byproduct of trash decomposition at the nearby Central Kentucky Landfill on Nov. 23, 2015.
